Music has a way of reaching us - where mere words fail to take us. Moravians are known for their rich and lasting heritage of solid Christian music. From the beginning of publishing one of the first Protestant hymnals in the 16th century to a classical legacy of grace, Moravians still produce and perform good music for the Lord this day. Our Chancel Choir sets a fine example.
Our Songs of Faith event will discover the rich and vast heritage of Christian music. With a hands-on approach to music story, we will explore such delightful musical styles as Classical, Negro Spiritual, Southern Gospel, Moravian and others.
Lenten Community Services
Each year, during the Lenten season, Dr. Steve Bailey, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia, hosts a Mid-week Lenten Community service at noon. This year the topic will focus on “Crucial Conversations”. Pastor John has been asked to bring one of the messages, along with Pastor Pat Honszer of Fry’s Valley Moravian Church. Pastor Pat will bring the message “Jesus in the Garden” on Wednesday, March 10, and Pastor John will bring the message “Jesus, Mary and John” on Wednesday, March 24. A light lunch is available following the service for a minimal charge. Plan to attend with a friend or two.
The First United Methodist Church is located at 201 W. High Avenue, New Philadelphia.
