Our first half of the Compass Kid's Club year just finished up with a 12- week series called "Kid's Travel Guide to the 23rd Psalm!" Weekly, 10-12 kids traveled together on an in-depth adventure through the 23rd Psalm. We learned that we are never alone. God is always with us whether we're at home, on the soccer field or at the doctor's office. The 23rd Psalm promises us God's comfort during both the good times and bad, and reassures us that we can trust God's love in every circumstance.
Each week we experienced the Bible thru a story excursion then moved on to a fun craft, science experiment, and game or food activities related to the story. In December, we challenged ourselves with the Christmas card service project where we signed and mailed about 43 Christmas cards to various members of our congregation.
Our last Compass Kid's Club in 2011 was on December 6 with a Christmas party to "Introduce a Friend to Jesus." The party was a boatload of fun as we focused on the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of the baby Jesus. Seventeen children, 3 teens, 5 adults, one Veggie Tale "Little Drummer Boy" movie, 4 pizzas with carrots and cookies, 20 colorful bows and an assortment of reindeer antlers and a fossilized pickle ornament rounded out the fun.
A special thank you to Susan Paden, Ben Wallace, Hannah Paden and Emma Stanley who assist with this youth group on a weekly basis, to Cindy Bowsher and Monique Carrington, who have filled in as helpers and to the 8 parents and friends who provided us with yummy snacks every week. If you are in grades 1st – 5th or an adult of any age who is looking for an exciting good time, check us out on Tuesday, January 10, from 4:30-6:00 p.m. We always have room for more members and helpers!
