Have a Heart for Sewing??
Then maybe you’d like to sew hearts!
For five years now, our church has been supplying heart shaped pillows to Aultman Hospital to give to patients undergoing breast cancer surgery. The soft pillows cushion their wounds and the enclosed card sends our love and support with scripture, prayer and pictures drawn by children in our church. Many of the women send Thank You cards letting us know how much they appreciated receiving the pillow and the card, something that brought them a little joy among all the fear and pain.
We provide Aultman Hospital with 20 pillows every 1 to 2 months, depending on their surgical load. Right now our supply of pillows is running low.
Volunteers are needed in the following areas:
· Cutting – Cut the hearts out of fleece fabric
· Sewing – Machine sew the hearts together
· Stuffing – Stuff the hearts with fiberfill
· Stitching – Stitch the opening closed
If you or your small group would be interested in making hearts for this ministry, we can supply you with a pattern and instructions. If you would prefer to help with only one of the steps listed above, that is also fine. If you are not into sewing, you can make a cash donation to help buy supplies for this ministry.
